For all instruments, the youngest students I teach are in 4th grade.  For alto saxophone and violin lessons, I would consider teaching an individual before they enter 4th grade if their instrument choice has been approved by the band or orchestra teacher they will have in school.

The main focus of the lessons will always be to develop a solid, healthy technique.  For those students interested, I will prepare them for NYSSMA (including sight-reading training).  For my singers, we can also work on audition materials and I will coach them on all aspects of performing.  To keep things "exciting," I bring a variety of genres of music to work on (classical, pop/rock, country, jazz, musical theater - I'm still working on my rap).  I focus on helping singers work through vocal changes and coach them on finding their own unique sound.

Lessons can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed.  The schedule is made at the end of August for the school year and at the end of June for the summer - it is best to arrange lessons at that time.  I teach students from as far east as Wading River to as far west as Massapequa, so it is very difficult to move things around once the schedule is completed.  I will always do my best to accommodate individual schedules, but the more flexibility you have, the better able I will be to fit you into the schedule.

My students are welcome to participate in an annual recital at the end of the summer, held at a local theatre.  Participation isn't mandatory, but it is a wonderful way for the student to show how much they've grown as a performer over the course of the year.  Parents are welcome to invite as many guests as they would like, and we have a small reception immediately following the show.  The students that participate really look forward to performing, and I love to see their confidence grow year after year.

Payment is due at the time of a lesson.  You can pay by lesson or for several lessons upfront.

Lessons must be canceled by 6pm the night before the lesson or you are still responsible for the missed lesson.

Unless we've discussed it, if you cancel three lessons in a row I will have to take you out of the schedule to make room for students on my waitlist.  I like to keep lessons very flexible for you and you are welcome to cancel whenever you need, but I will assume that you aren't serious about lessons if you cancel on a regular basis.
